Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.10%, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.15%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM), which rose 2.80% or 7.77 points to trade at 285.63 at the close. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) added 1.44% or 3.28 points to end at 231.59 and American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) was up 1.36% or 2.36 points to 175.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), which lost 6.26% or 9.99 points to trade at 149.59 in late trade. Dow Inc (NYSE:DOW) declined 1.08% or 0.62 points to end at 56.81 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) shed 0.67% or 1.44 points to 213.61.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were TripAdvisor Inc (NASDAQ:TRIP) which rose 3.56% to 36.62, Costco Wholesale Corp (NASDAQ:COST) which was up 3.31% to settle at 467.75 and Carnival Corporation (NYSE:CCL) which gained 3.12% to close at 25.46.
The worst performers were Foot Locker Inc (NYSE:FL) which was down 7.16% to 48.23 in late trade, Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) which lost 6.26% to settle at 149.59 and Coty Inc (NYSE:COTY) which was down 2.91% to 8.010 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Zivo Bioscience Inc (NASDAQ:ZIVO) which rose 57.97% to 5.450, Paltalk Inc (NASDAQ:PALT) which was up 36.99% to settle at 4.0100 and Aehr Test Systems (NASDAQ:AEHR) which gained 34.30% to close at 15.820.
The worst performers were Color Star Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ:CSCW) which was down 35.06% to 0.5650 in late trade, Air T Inc (NASDAQ:AIRT) which lost 15.95% to settle at 32.99 and Kintara Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:KTRA) which was down 21.43% to 0.8800 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1870 to 1317 and 121 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2014 fell and 1466 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 4.72% to 17.75.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.80 to $1748.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.87% or 0.64 to hit $73.94 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.98% or 0.76 to trade at $78.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1720, while USD/JPY rose 0.42% to 110.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.275.
