Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.41%, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.31%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS), which rose 3.02% or 3.50 points to trade at 119.37 at the close. Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) added 1.68% or 4.65 points to end at 280.82 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) was up 1.37% or 2.58 points to 191.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), which lost 1.81% or 1.93 points to trade at 104.85 in late trade. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) declined 1.74% or 0.74 points to end at 41.83 and Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) shed 1.72% or 6.73 points to 383.55.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) which rose 7.20% to 1,042.79, Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU) which was up 6.28% to settle at 117.13 and DexCom Inc (NASDAQ:DXCM) which gained 5.20% to close at 140.10.
The worst performers were Take-Two Interactive Software Inc (NASDAQ:TTWO) which was down 4.15% to 146.14 in late trade, STERIS plc (NYSE:STE) which lost 3.73% to settle at 220.45 and Dayforce Inc (NYSE:DAY) which was down 3.56% to 66.71 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Landos Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:LABP) which rose 167.63% to 21.41, MoneyHero Ltd (NASDAQ:MNY) which was up 63.50% to settle at 2.24 and Linkage Global Inc (NASDAQ:LGCB) which gained 46.40% to close at 3.25.
The worst performers were SINTX Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SINT) which was down 45.95% to 0.05 in late trade, Trxade Group Inc (NASDAQ:MEDS) which lost 40.82% to settle at 9.51 and Akanda Corp (NASDAQ:AKAN) which was down 32.18% to 0.17 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1595 to 1264 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1933 fell and 1436 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.00% to 13.19.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.58% or 12.45 to $2,172.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.58% or 1.27 to hit $81.90 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.44% or 1.22 to trade at $86.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.08, while USD/JPY fell 0.00% to 151.41.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 103.91.
