Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.16% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.07%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were American Express Company (NYSE:AXP), which rose 7.09% or 13.34 points to trade at 201.41 at the close. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) added 1.97% or 9.73 points to end at 503.13 and Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE) was up 1.95% or 1.96 points to 102.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which lost 11.91% or 5.90 points to trade at 43.65 in late trade. Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) declined 1.73% or 4.71 points to end at 267.90 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) shed 1.65% or 4.91 points to 292.30.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) which rose 7.09% to 201.41, Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ:ABNB) which was up 5.28% to settle at 149.62 and Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE:COF) which gained 4.60% to close at 138.65.
The worst performers were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) which was down 11.91% to 43.65 in late trade, Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FICO) which lost 6.85% to settle at 1,196.27 and KLA Corporation (NASDAQ:KLAC) which was down 6.60% to 599.37 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Corbus Pharmaceuticals Holding (NASDAQ:CRBP) which rose 249.41% to 29.49, SMX Security Matters Ord Shs Class A (NASDAQ:SMX) which was up 82.59% to settle at 0.43 and Bit Origin Ltd (NASDAQ:BTOG) which gained 69.89% to close at 4.74.
The worst performers were Richtech Robotics Inc (NASDAQ:RR) which was down 64.95% to 3.47 in late trade, Yoshitsu Co Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:TKLF) which lost 60.89% to settle at 0.31 and Nuvve Holding Corp (NASDAQ:NVVE) which was down 36.14% to 3.18 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1587 to 1239 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1764 rose and 1620 declined, while 150 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.41% to 13.26.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.03% or 0.65 to $2,018.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.85% or 0.66 to hit $78.02 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.42% or 1.17 to trade at $83.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.09, while USD/JPY rose 0.32% to 148.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.27.
