Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 3.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 8.31% or 1.06 points to trade at 13.81 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 7.60% or 2.45 points to end at 34.70 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 3.95% or 0.89 points to 23.42 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which lost 21.17% or 4.70 points to trade at 17.50 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 18.91% or 0.38 points to end at 1.63 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) shed 15.68% or 0.29 points to 1.56.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 201 to 105 and 20 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.06% to 54.26 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.88% or 11.00 to $1234.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.69% or 0.63 to hit $36.55 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.25% or 1.59 to trade at $125.58 .
USD/BRL was up 2.98% to 3.7705, while EUR/BRL rose 2.98% to 4.1863.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.64.
