Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Support Services and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.95% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 3.57% or 1.56 points to trade at 45.38 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) added 3.48% or 0.13 points to end at 3.75 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) was up 1.12% or 0.39 points to 35.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 3.12% or 1.25 points to trade at 38.86 at the close. Alcatel Lucent SA (PA:ALUA) declined 2.84% or 0.103 points to end at 3.519 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was down 2.61% or 1.68 points to 62.67.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 4.56% to 8.73, Technip (PA:TECF) which was up 3.57% to settle at 45.38 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which gained 3.48% to close at 3.75.
The worst performers were SES (PA:SESFd) which was down 4.03% to 25.70 in late trade, Edenred (PA:EDEN) which lost 3.53% to settle at 17.21 and Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 3.31% to 33.010 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 491 to 246 and 51 ended unchanged.
Shares in SES (PA:SESFd) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.03% or 1.08 to 25.70.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.88% to 23.72.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.14% or 1.50 to $1073.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.99% or 0.37 to hit $37.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.98% or 0.40 to trade at $39.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.86% to 1.0985, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7247.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.80% at 97.63.
