Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.32% to hit a new 1-month high, while the S&P 500 index added 0.48%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 1.77% or 0.54 points to trade at 31.05 at the close. JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM) added 1.40% or 2.78 points to end at 201.51 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) was up 1.30% or 2.32 points to 180.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Walmart Inc (NYSE:WMT), which lost 0.91% or 0.55 points to trade at 59.86 in late trade. Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) declined 0.76% or 0.48 points to end at 63.10 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:V) shed 0.59% or 1.65 points to 277.74.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Insulet Corporation (NASDAQ:PODD) which rose 6.99% to 172.27, Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) which was up 5.71% to settle at 117.11 and Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) which gained 5.06% to close at 822.37.
The worst performers were Paramount Global Class B (NASDAQ:PARA) which was down 5.23% to 12.33 in late trade, Bunge Limited (NYSE:BG) which lost 3.89% to settle at 103.42 and FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) which was down 2.94% to 259.04 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Cheetah Net Supply Chain Service Inc (NASDAQ:CTNT) which rose 442.37% to 6.40, Faraday Future Intelligent Electric Inc (NASDAQ:FFIE) which was up 367.54% to settle at 0.29 and MMTEC Inc (NASDAQ:MTC) which gained 83.51% to close at 8.90.
The worst performers were Augmedix Inc (NASDAQ:AUGX) which was down 51.07% to 1.14 in late trade, Inotiv Inc (NASDAQ:NOTV) which lost 49.16% to settle at 2.12 and Shimmick Corp (NASDAQ:SHIM) which was down 34.07% to 2.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1931 to 911 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2125 rose and 1244 declined, while 117 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.32% to 13.42.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.82% or 19.10 to $2,362.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.00% or 0.79 to hit $78.33 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.72 to trade at $82.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.15% to 156.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 104.89.
