Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Chemicals and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gtm Corp (TW:1437), which rose 9.97% or 1.50 points to trade at 16.55 at the close. Shenmao (TW:3305) added 9.94% or 2.50 points to end at 27.65 and G.M.I (TW:3312) was up 9.89% or 0.64 points to 7.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.60% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.26 in late trade. Geo Vision (TW:3356) declined 7.61% or 4.30 points to end at 52.20 and Acer (TW:2353) shed 7.59% or 1.15 points to 14.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 400 to 334 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.48% or 0.21 to $43.70 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $46.12 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.34% or 4.65 to trade at $1345.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.13% to 31.363, while TWD/CNY rose 0.28% to 0.2120.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 95.89.
