Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.28%, while the MDAX index added 0.13%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 1.83% or 0.340 points to trade at 18.900 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 1.69% or 0.148 points to end at 8.902 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 1.29% or 0.440 points to 34.595 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 1.45% or 1.200 points to trade at 81.630 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.64% or 0.075 points to end at 11.595 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) shed 0.62% or 1.00 points to 160.55.
The top performers on the MDAX were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which rose 3.41% to 18.820, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 2.69% to settle at 74.950 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 1.65% to close at 11.69.
The worst performers were Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was down 2.03% to 12.305 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 1.36% to settle at 105.00 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 1.11% to 99.290 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 3.45% to 12.600, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 3.39% to settle at 17.101 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 3.01% to close at 49.085.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 8.83% to 82.050 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 1.95% to settle at 13.060 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.32% to 44.365 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 434 to 336 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.63% to 12.93.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 4.38 to $1260.32 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $49.36 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $52.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.1729, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9040.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 93.66.
