Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services, Software and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Retail and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.52%, while the MDAX index declined 0.57%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 5.10% or 6.000 points to trade at 123.650 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 2.52% or 1.12 points to end at 45.49 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 2.03% or 1.90 points to 95.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 2.58% or 0.325 points to trade at 12.285 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 2.32% or 1.65 points to end at 69.49 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 2.32% or 5.00 points to 210.60.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which rose 3.25% to 21.600, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was up 2.81% to settle at 102.250 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:GYC) which gained 2.41% to close at 22.06.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 4.99% to 26.660 in late trade, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which lost 3.70% to settle at 15.2300 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 3.44% to 21.910 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 5.10% to 123.650, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.57% to settle at 36.320 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 1.51% to close at 302.50.
The worst performers were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was down 9.60% to 6.78 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 5.47% to settle at 8.295 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 5.09% to 46.220 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 492 to 204 and 86 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.51% to 15.32.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.04% or 13.35 to $1299.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.57% or 0.89 to hit $55.77 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.42% or 0.94 to trade at $65.36 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.1241, while EUR/GBP rose 1.06% to 0.8644.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 97.273.
