Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Financial Services and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.12%, while the MDAX index declined 0.23%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.29%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 0.54% or 0.090 points to trade at 16.800 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 0.52% or 0.150 points to end at 29.030 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 0.44% or 0.130 points to 29.940 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.06% or 0.282 points to trade at 13.424 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 1.33% or 1.200 points to end at 88.720 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) shed 1.10% or 0.44 points to 39.64.

The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 2.07% to 0.51, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 2.02% to settle at 65.540 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which gained 1.20% to close at 63.250.

The worst performers were Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which was down 2.13% to 12.860 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 1.29% to settle at 46.64 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.26% to 40.000 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 6.65% to 16.850, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 3.30% to settle at 28.200 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.75% to close at 33.660.

The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 1.95% to 31.120 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 1.70% to settle at 89.850 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.23% to 44.30 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 386 to 329 and 97 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.08% to 14.66 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.05% or 14.20 to $1337.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.09% or 0.72 to hit $65.42 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.51% or 1.06 to trade at $69.09 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.2353, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8797.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 89.36.
