Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Financial Services and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.26%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.57%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.84% or 0.610 points to trade at 22.060 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.51% or 0.239 points to end at 9.761 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.42% or 0.520 points to 22.010 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn), which lost 0.79% or 0.460 points to trade at 58.040 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 0.65% or 1.30 points to end at 198.50 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) shed 0.57% or 0.460 points to 80.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which rose 3.42% to 78.600, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was up 2.61% to settle at 53.150 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which gained 2.55% to close at 26.930.
The worst performers were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which was down 2.28% to 33.86 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 2.25% to settle at 66.060 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 2.18% to 37.780 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 2.95% to 51.000, Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was up 1.67% to settle at 31.580 and Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which gained 1.61% to close at 36.91.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 2.01% to 18.570 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 1.81% to settle at 10.010 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.76% to 133.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 438 to 285 and 55 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.06% to 15.99.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 3.40 to $1255.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.26% or 0.92 to hit $73.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.21 to trade at $77.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1740, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 93.78.
