Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3), which rose 3.27% or 1.68 points to trade at 53.01 at the close. Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3) added 3.21% or 1.86 points to end at 59.88 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 1.80% or 0.30 points to 16.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 3.63% or 0.31 points to trade at 8.24 in late trade. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) declined 3.56% or 0.20 points to end at 5.42 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) shed 2.93% or 0.26 points to 8.62.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 227 to 151 and 29 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.02% to 25.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.56% or 19.64 to $1282.24 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.89% or 0.44 to hit $49.61 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.08% or 0.12 to trade at $142.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.80% to 3.1521, while EUR/BRL rose 0.82% to 3.7051.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.43.
