Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.73% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 5.77% or 0.62 points to trade at 11.37 at the close. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 5.03% or 0.48 points to end at 10.02 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 4.99% or 2.08 points to 43.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which lost 1.15% or 0.18 points to trade at 15.44 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 0.87% or 0.11 points to end at 12.59 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) shed 0.60% or 0.35 points to 58.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 215 to 132 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.79% to 31.41 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.55 to $1263.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.88% or 0.44 to hit $50.38 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.00% or 1.57 to trade at $158.55 .
USD/BRL was down 0.44% to 3.1880, while EUR/BRL fell 0.66% to 3.4993.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 97.89.
