Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 3.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 9.92% or 0.98 points to trade at 10.86 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 9.76% or 0.77 points to end at 8.66 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 7.10% or 1.68 points to 25.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 0.16% or 0.03 points to trade at 18.65 in late trade. TAESA UNT N2 (SA:TAEE11) added 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 22.35 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) gained 0.26% or 0.07 points to 27.32.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 285 to 112 and 28 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 8.77% to 28.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.52 to $1274.32 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $50.30 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.01% or 1.28 to trade at $125.67 .
USD/BRL was down 0.26% to 3.1459, while EUR/BRL fell 0.13% to 3.6954.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.40.
