Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 8.36% or 0.59 points to trade at 7.65 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 6.44% or 1.14 points to end at 18.83 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 4.95% or 0.92 points to 19.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3), which lost 4.01% or 0.59 points to trade at 14.12 in late trade. Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11) declined 2.73% or 0.40 points to end at 14.25 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 1.02% or 0.10 points to 9.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 230 to 191 and 38 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.73% to 50.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.37% or 4.40 to $1205.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.12% or 0.77 to hit $67.95 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.26% or 1.30 to trade at $102.20 .
USD/BRL was down 2.03% to 4.0633, while EUR/BRL fell 1.99% to 4.7251.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.96.
