Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Basic Resources and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.05%, while the MDAX index fell 0.22%, and the TecDAX index added 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 2.29% or 3.70 points to trade at 164.95 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) added 1.82% or 0.590 points to end at 33.000 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 1.79% or 0.158 points to 8.995 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 2.22% or 1.9300 points to trade at 85.0000 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 1.82% or 0.61 points to end at 33.23 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.33% or 0.205 points to 15.205.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which rose 3.76% to 109.000, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 3.56% to settle at 49.870 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which gained 2.91% to close at 61.336.
The worst performers were Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 4.72% to 37.265 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 4.52% to settle at 19.635 and Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 3.01% to 70.180 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 5.18% to 63.000, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.55% to settle at 5.034 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.92% to close at 66.000.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 2.28% to 10.090 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.04% to settle at 41.720 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 0.86% to 38.66 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 383 to 377 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.25% to 14.37.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 1.87 to $1267.77 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $49.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $51.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.0891, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8414.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.93.
