Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 2.98% or 2.350 points to trade at 81.150 at the close. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) added 2.91% or 0.0243 points to end at 0.8598 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 2.41% or 0.0238 points to 1.0111 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which lost 3.08% or 1.240 points to trade at 39.020 in late trade. Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) declined 2.59% or 3.75 points to end at 141.15 and Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) shed 1.92% or 1.37 points to 70.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 108 and 16 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.57% to 19.300.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.09% or 14.21 to $1312.11 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.43% or 1.64 to hit $46.23 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 0.67 to trade at $51.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.03% to 58.5650, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 70.1129.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.18.
