Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.78%, while the MDAX index fell 1.44%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 4.90% or 0.464 points to trade at 9.941 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 3.19% or 0.480 points to end at 15.520 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 0.73% or 0.140 points to 19.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which lost 3.33% or 6.60 points to trade at 191.35 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 3.04% or 0.272 points to end at 8.685 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 2.41% or 0.455 points to 18.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 2.20% to 10.68, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.72% to settle at 66.910 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 1.46% to close at 36.115.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 12.83% to 12.51 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 4.23% to settle at 44.81 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 4.22% to 53.840 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 2.26% to 26.640, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 2.00% to settle at 39.015 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which gained 1.39% to close at 6.000.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 3.82% to 240.45 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which lost 2.70% to settle at 23.080 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 2.27% to 53.900 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 522 to 185 and 14 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.47% to 13.85.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.10% or 1.29 to $1247.69 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.96% or 0.85 to hit $44.23 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.04% or 0.94 to trade at $46.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.26% to 1.1322, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.83% at 96.30.
