Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which rose 4.31% or 435.0 points to trade at 10535.0 at the close. Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) added 4.28% or 28.00 points to end at 682.50 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was up 3.58% or 42.50 points to 1228.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which lost 2.45% or 20.10 points to trade at 800.00 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 2.09% or 3000 points to end at 140600 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) shed 1.59% or 0.0143 points to 0.8825.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 99 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.40% to 24.890.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.58% or 7.25 to $1263.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $50.01 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.09 to trade at $51.43 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.32% to 62.9086, while EUR/RUB fell 0.41% to 69.154.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 97.78.
