Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 3.74% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which rose 14.58% or 0.93 points to trade at 7.31 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) added 10.76% or 0.48 points to end at 4.94 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 9.81% or 1.16 points to 12.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Oi SA (SA:OIBR3), which lost 0.87% or 0.02 points to trade at 2.28 in late trade. CETIP SA - Mercados Organizados (SA:CTIP3) declined 0.71% or 0.27 points to end at 37.98 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) shed 0.38% or 0.05 points to 12.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 209 to 103 and 25 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.19% to 47.48.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.81% or 22.30 to $1208.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 5.07% or 1.61 to hit $33.36 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 3.21% or 3.75 to trade at $120.53 .
USD/BRL was down 2.04% to 3.9404, while EUR/BRL fell 2.82% to 4.3496.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.76% at 97.35.
