Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 3.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 9.09% or 0.400 points to trade at 4.800 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 9.02% or 0.35 points to end at 4.23 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 8.24% or 1.69 points to 22.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 1.41% or 0.15 points to trade at 10.50 in late trade. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) declined 0.04% or 0.01 points to end at 27.54 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 24.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 292 to 108 and 27 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.50% to 36.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.79% or 23.35 to $1281.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.86% or 0.82 to hit $44.89 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.87% or 3.19 to trade at $174.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.99% to 3.2016, while EUR/BRL fell 1.82% to 3.5366.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 97.74.
