Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.54% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 10.63% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.29 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 9.92% or 1.20 points to end at 13.30 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was up 9.19% or 0.68 points to 8.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 2.78% or 0.62 points to trade at 21.65 in late trade. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 1.70% or 0.26 points to end at 15.06 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) shed 1.32% or 0.20 points to 15.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 183 to 112 and 27 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 6.45% to 44.69 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.41% or 17.40 to $1252.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.06% or 1.26 to hit $42.45 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.35% or 1.70 to trade at $127.67 .
USD/BRL was down 2.26% to 3.5328, while EUR/BRL fell 1.89% to 4.0134.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.04.
