Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.40% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which rose 3.28% or 0.44 points to trade at 13.84 at the close. Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) added 2.48% or 0.40 points to end at 16.50 and CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) was up 2.16% or 0.19 points to 9.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 5.11% or 0.95 points to trade at 17.65 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.64% or 0.71 points to end at 14.59 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) shed 2.00% or 0.59 points to 28.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 197 to 161 and 41 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.37% to 26.07 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.88% or 10.75 to $1228.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.17% or 0.54 to hit $46.62 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.93% or 2.53 to trade at $133.70 .
USD/BRL was down 0.87% to 3.1837, while EUR/BRL fell 0.26% to 3.6512.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.72% at 94.87.
