Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC3), which rose 2.06% or 0.68 points to trade at 33.65 at the close. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) added 2.05% or 0.38 points to end at 18.93 and Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) was up 1.79% or 0.83 points to 47.08 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which lost 7.14% or 0.49 points to trade at 6.37 in late trade. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 5.34% or 1.39 points to end at 24.65 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) shed 5.00% or 2.17 points to 41.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 216 to 151 and 33 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 27.91.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.03% or 0.35 to $1239.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.45% or 0.79 to hit $53.54 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.57% or 0.86 to trade at $150.82 .
USD/BRL was down 1.02% to 3.0639, while EUR/BRL fell 0.71% to 3.2376.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 101.25.
