Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 11.33% or 0.17 points to trade at 1.67 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) added 10.34% or 0.46 points to end at 4.91 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 9.73% or 0.58 points to 6.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 14.71% or 1.45 points to trade at 8.41 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 7.22% or 0.07 points to end at 0.90 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was down 2.10% or 0.12 points to 5.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 211 to 107 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) fell to 52-week lows; down 14.71% or 1.45 to 8.41. Shares in Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.22% or 0.07 to 0.90.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.22% to 46.31.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.46% or 5.20 to $1125.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.64% or 0.52 to hit $31.96 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.31% or 1.52 to trade at $118.15 .
USD/BRL was up 1.33% to 4.1079, while EUR/BRL rose 1.60% to 4.4766.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 98.99.
