Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 2.09%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE), which rose 1.81% or 16.0 points to trade at 900.0 at the close. Meanwhile, AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) added 1.58% or 0.290 points to end at 18.640 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was up 1.19% or 6.50 points to 553.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which fell 6.17% or 51.00 points to trade at 775.00 at the close. Sollers (MCX:SVAV) declined 5.34% or 25.0 points to end at 443.0 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was down 4.52% or 8.10 points to 171.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 152 to 69 and 10 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.69% to 38.090.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.76% or 8.60 to $1124.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.19% or 1.50 to hit $45.46 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.87% or 0.92 to trade at $48.01 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.40% to 66.359, while EUR/RUB fell 0.14% to 73.799.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 96.50.
