Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.63% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 4.60% or 0.44 points to trade at 10.00 at the close. Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 4.52% or 0.30 points to end at 6.94 and Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) was up 4.24% or 0.31 points to 7.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which lost 4.92% or 0.42 points to trade at 8.12 in late trade. Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) declined 3.12% or 0.56 points to end at 17.41 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) shed 2.90% or 0.160 points to 5.350.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 185 to 125 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.84% to 34.59 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.66% or 8.75 to $1344.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.57% or 1.67 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.06% or 0.09 to trade at $147.52 .
USD/BRL was down 0.86% to 3.2677, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 3.6240.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 96.36.
