Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which rose 2.58% or 0.75 points to trade at 29.85 at the close. Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) added 2.20% or 1.65 points to end at 76.50 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) was up 1.55% or 0.45 points to 29.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 4.58% or 0.79 points to trade at 16.47 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.00% or 0.55 points to end at 13.20 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) shed 3.97% or 0.76 points to 18.36.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 206 to 173 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.50% to 38.48.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.47% or 5.95 to $1266.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.54% or 0.26 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.12% or 1.45 to trade at $127.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.59% to 3.2455, while EUR/BRL rose 0.32% to 3.6395.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 97.14.
