Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.12% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 7.75% or 0.98 points to trade at 13.63 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 6.58% or 1.07 points to end at 17.32 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was up 2.88% or 0.44 points to 15.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which lost 2.33% or 0.69 points to trade at 28.93 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 2.27% or 0.15 points to end at 6.46 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) shed 2.08% or 0.15 points to 7.06.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 218 to 189 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.85% to 29.32 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.53% or 6.42 to $1225.62 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 3.59% or 1.69 to hit $45.38 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.84% or 2.35 to trade at $130.02 .
USD/BRL was down 0.56% to 3.2907, while EUR/BRL fell 0.56% to 3.7331.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 95.99.
