Investing.com – U.S. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.32%, while the S&P 500 index declined 0.75%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA), which rose 4.33% or 1.32 points to trade at 31.84 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:MRK) added 3.29% or 2.88 points to end at 90.48 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) was up 1.63% or 2.11 points to 131.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM), which lost 3.09% or 4.65 points to trade at 145.64 in late trade. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) declined 2.13% or 4.99 points to end at 229.25 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) shed 2.06% or 2.00 points to 95.16.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) which rose 4.33% to 31.84, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) which was up 3.44% to settle at 123.42 and McCormick & Company Incorporated (NYSE:MKC) which gained 3.30% to close at 75.86.
The worst performers were Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN) which was down 12.25% to 64.14 in late trade, Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc (NYSE:BIO) which lost 8.39% to settle at 392.95 and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NYSE:NCLH) which was down 7.91% to 11.88 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Applied DNA Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:APDN) which rose 70.97% to 2.12, Immunic Inc (NASDAQ:IMUX) which was up 56.57% to settle at 6.20 and Green Giant Inc (NASDAQ:GGE) which gained 39.26% to close at 2.27.
The worst performers were Siyata Mobile Inc (NASDAQ:SYTA) which was down 59.33% to 0.12 in late trade, Minim Inc (NASDAQ:MINM) which lost 29.38% to settle at 0.23 and Acm Research Inc (NASDAQ:ACMR) which was down 26.50% to 9.04 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2035 to 1050 and 124 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2291 fell and 1466 advanced, while 209 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 3.48% to 32.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.01% or 34.35 to $1,674.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.90% or 1.76 to hit $90.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.07% or 2.03 to trade at $95.89 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 0.97, while USD/JPY rose 0.27% to 145.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 113.09.
