Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.62%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.24%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which rose 2.79% or 0.89 points to trade at 32.74 at the close. Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) added 2.78% or 6.08 points to end at 224.73 and Home Depot Inc (NYSE:HD) was up 2.47% or 7.47 points to 310.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ), which lost 2.12% or 0.76 points to trade at 35.14 in late trade. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) declined 1.60% or 5.39 points to end at 331.83 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) shed 1.50% or 2.58 points to 169.07.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Wynn Resorts Limited (NASDAQ:WYNN) which rose 5.69% to 107.09, MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) which was up 5.59% to settle at 45.50 and Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:ENPH) which gained 5.60% to close at 175.47.
The worst performers were FMC Corporation (NYSE:FMC) which was down 11.15% to 92.63 in late trade, Corteva Inc (NYSE:CTVA) which lost 5.57% to settle at 54.11 and DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) which was down 2.75% to 7.08 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Mobilicom Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:MOB) which rose 88.00% to 2.82, Jupiter Wellness Inc (NASDAQ:JUPW) which was up 50.27% to settle at 0.55 and Alpine 4 Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ALPP) which gained 40.48% to close at 2.36.
The worst performers were Tivic Health Systems Inc (NASDAQ:TIVC) which was down 35.98% to 0.07 in late trade, Neonode Inc (NASDAQ:NEON) which lost 35.20% to settle at 4.75 and Better Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:BTTX) which was down 19.64% to 0.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2043 to 897 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2295 rose and 1195 declined, while 162 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.62% to 15.07.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.08% or 1.55 to $1,930.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.91% or 0.67 to hit $73.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.61 to trade at $77.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.10, while USD/JPY fell 0.52% to 141.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 101.62.
