Investing.com – U.S. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.04% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.16%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM), which rose 1.26% or 3.13 points to trade at 251.52 at the close. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) added 1.04% or 3.02 points to end at 292.83 and Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) was up 0.99% or 1.78 points to 181.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Boeing Co (NYSE:BA), which lost 1.57% or 3.75 points to trade at 234.43 in late trade. American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) declined 1.44% or 2.42 points to end at 166.10 and JPMorgan Chase & Co (NYSE:JPM) shed 1.12% or 1.81 points to 159.98.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) which rose 7.43% to 74.01, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD) which was up 3.78% to settle at 110.53 and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:REGN) which gained 2.76% to close at 624.76.
The worst performers were APA Corporation (NASDAQ:APA) which was down 5.39% to 17.90 in late trade, Diamondback Energy Inc (NASDAQ:FANG) which lost 4.75% to settle at 75.60 and HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) which was down 4.54% to 29.02 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Greenvision Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ:GRNV) which rose 59.34% to 12.97, PharmaCyte Biotech Inc (NASDAQ:PMCB) which was up 43.42% to settle at 3.2700 and Flora Growth Corp (NASDAQ:FLGC) which gained 35.89% to close at 17.190.
The worst performers were Sesen Bio Inc (NASDAQ:SESN) which was down 57.23% to 2.100 in late trade, Soc Telemed Inc (NASDAQ:TLMD) which lost 33.73% to settle at 2.750 and Duos Technologies Group Inc (NASDAQ:DUOT) which was down 28.79% to 6.06 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1780 to 1449 and 142 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2448 fell and 1117 advanced, while 152 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 1.03% to 15.43 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.60% or 28.10 to $1779.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.74% or 1.20 to hit $67.89 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.68% or 1.20 to trade at $70.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.1796, while USD/JPY fell 0.72% to 109.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 92.517.
