Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Insurance and Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.26%, while the ADX General index gained 0.34%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which rose 3.92% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.690 at the close. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) added 3.41% or 0.014 points to end at 0.424 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 2.91% or 0.013 points to 0.460 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which lost 2.05% or 0.017 points to trade at 0.812 in late trade. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) declined 2.00% or 0.040 points to end at 1.960 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) shed 1.67% or 0.020 points to 1.180.

The top performers on the ADX General were Methaq (AD:METH) which rose 6.76% to 0.790, National Takaful Co PJSC (AD:WATA) which was up 5.88% to settle at 0.54 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which gained 5.53% to close at 2.100.

The worst performers were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which was down 6.54% to 1.000 in late trade, United Arab Bk (AD:UAB) which lost 5.52% to settle at 1.370 and International Holding Company PJSC (AD:IHC) which was down 3.57% to 1.35 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 8 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.28% or 0.92 to $70.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.23% or 0.98 to hit $78.82 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 6.20 to trade at $1295.80 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.15% to 4.3027.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 93.77.
