Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.58% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sino Horizon (TW:2923), which rose 9.96% or 2.40 points to trade at 26.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Leadtek (TW:2465) added 9.91% or 1.10 points to end at 12.20 and Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) was up 9.91% or 2.75 points to 30.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Min Aik (TW:3060), which fell 9.93% or 7.60 points to trade at 68.90 at the close. Cvilux (TW:8103) declined 8.96% or 3.70 points to end at 37.60 and Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) was down 7.61% or 1.45 points to 17.60.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 585 to 258.
Shares in Min Aik (TW:3060) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.93% or 7.60 to 68.90. Shares in Cvilux (TW:8103) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.96% or 3.70 to 37.60. Shares in Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) fell to all time lows; falling 7.61% or 1.45 to 17.60.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.55% or 0.80 to $52.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.16% or 0.66 to hit $57.71 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1162.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.65% to 31.018, while TWD/CNY rose 0.20% to 0.2017.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.31.
