Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Machinery, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng (TW:1538), which rose 10.00% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.81 at the close. Gemtek Tech (TW:4906) added 9.99% or 3.35 points to end at 36.90 and Acceptance (TW:9941) was up 9.97% or 9.70 points to 107.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 7.24% or 1.10 points to trade at 14.10 in late trade. Ahoku Eltr (TW:3002) declined 3.36% or 0.50 points to end at 14.40 and Kerry Tj (TW:2608) shed 3.31% or 1.30 points to 38.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 398 to 351 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.67% or 0.34 to $51.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.62% or 0.33 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.53 to trade at $1254.13 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.02% to 30.012, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2299.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.15.
