Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Textile, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Precision (TW:3016), which rose 9.98% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.15 at the close. Msi (TW:2377) added 9.98% or 4.90 points to end at 54.00 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) was up 9.96% or 3.35 points to 37.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genesis Photon (TW:3383), which lost 10.00% or 0.63 points to trade at 5.67 in late trade. Tainergy Tech (TW:4934) declined 9.83% or 1.70 points to end at 15.60 and Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418) shed 8.91% or 0.49 points to 5.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 410 to 326 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.50% or 0.22 to $43.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $44.93 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.58% or 7.10 to trade at $1237.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 32.363, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2006.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 94.90.
