Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 2.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which rose 4.99% or 26.60 points to trade at 560.00 at the close. Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) added 2.73% or 112.0 points to end at 4222.0 and MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) was up 1.81% or 10.50 points to 590.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which lost 5.52% or 45.50 points to trade at 778.30 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 5.24% or 9.24 points to end at 167.10 and NMTP (MCX:NMTP) shed 3.81% or 0.2500 points to 6.3050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 169 to 50 and 18 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 6.71% to 28.660.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.41% or 28.80 to $1222.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.20% or 1.61 to hit $71.56 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.32% or 1.93 to trade at $81.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.24% to 66.0654, while EUR/RUB fell 0.74% to 76.4898.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 94.87.
