Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 1.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which rose 3.26% or 13.20 points to trade at 418.00 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 1.19% or 10.50 points to end at 895.00 and Detskiy Mir PAO (MCX:DSKY) was up 1.05% or 1.00 points to 96.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which lost 4.61% or 6.40 points to trade at 132.30 in late trade. Sberbank Rossii PAO (MCX:SBER) declined 4.18% or 11.45 points to end at 262.50 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) shed 4.18% or 0.1600 points to 3.6700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 148 to 62 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.01% to 25.530 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.20% or 2.60 to $1324.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $60.70 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $64.56 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.24% to 57.1713, while EUR/RUB rose 0.06% to 70.7050.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 89.71.
