Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 1.10% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 4.23% or 3.300 points to trade at 81.250 at the close. Gazprom (MCX:GAZP) added 3.93% or 5.35 points to end at 141.40 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 2.87% or 14 points to 520 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK), which lost 1.91% or 1.05 points to trade at 53.85 in late trade. Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) declined 1.74% or 240.0 points to end at 13560.0 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) shed 1.42% or 12.0 points to 833.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 129 to 107 and 20 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.89% to 25.550.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.58% or 20.95 to $1347.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $44.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.62% or 0.77 to trade at $46.86 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.81% to 64.5469, while EUR/RUB rose 0.22% to 72.546.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.88% at 94.90.
