Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Banking and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.31%, while the ADX General index added 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 12.28% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.28 at the close. Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) added 3.21% or 0.026 points to end at 0.837 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 2.35% or 0.019 points to 0.828 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which lost 3.37% or 0.033 points to trade at 0.947 in late trade. Emirate Integrated Telecom Co PJSC (DU:DU) declined 1.17% or 0.070 points to end at 5.920 and DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) shed 0.85% or 0.008 points to 0.935.
The top performers on the ADX General were Umm Al Qaiwain Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:QIC) which rose 14.40% to 1.4300, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 7.55% to settle at 2.990 and Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which gained 6.52% to close at 2.450.
The worst performers were Fujairah Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:FCI) which was down 9.24% to 1.080 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 8.93% to settle at 1.0200 and Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which was down 8.57% to 1.280 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 12 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 8 declined, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.88% or 0.47 to $52.71 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.89% or 0.50 to hit $55.39 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 3.00 to trade at $1291.50 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.24% to 3.9073.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 100.19.
