Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services, Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.85% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 3.31% or 25.34 points to trade at 790.00 at the close. GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) added 2.11% or 0.660 points to end at 31.930 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) was up 0.73% or 0.14 points to 19.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO), which lost 4.74% or 6.240 points to trade at 125.430 in late trade. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 4.62% or 3.320 points to end at 68.470 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) shed 3.35% or 4.59 points to 132.49.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 176 to 117 and 9 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1219.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.45% or 0.97 to hit $67.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.21% or 0.87 to trade at $72.94 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 1.19% to 18.9166, while EUR/MXN rose 0.18% to 21.5817.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.73% at 96.16.
