Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Consumer Goods & Services and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX), which rose 3.42% or 1.800 points to trade at 54.470 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 3.09% or 0.580 points to end at 19.320 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) was up 2.63% or 3.58 points to 139.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA), which lost 2.95% or 0.46 points to trade at 15.14 in late trade. Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV Class B (MX:BSMXB) declined 2.24% or 0.650 points to end at 28.430 and GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) shed 1.49% or 0.460 points to 30.340.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 169 to 158 and 17 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.30 to $1206.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.34% or 1.65 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.81% or 1.44 to trade at $78.30 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 1.06% to 18.8158, while EUR/MXN fell 0.52% to 21.9977.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 94.54.
