Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical/Machinery, Gas & Water and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keyence (TYO:6861), which rose 7.79% or 5,030.00 points to trade at 69,670.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) added 5.38% or 52.50 points to end at 1,026.50 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) was up 5.35% or 129.50 points to 2,545.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JTEKT Corp. (TYO:6473), which lost 9.16% or 127.00 points to trade at 1,258.50 in late trade. Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4063) declined 6.37% or 402.00 points to end at 5,901.00 and NTN Corp. (TYO:6472) shed 2.88% or 9.10 points to 305.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.98% to 20.82.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.85% or 0.71 to $83.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.80% or 0.71 to hit $87.50 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 5.65 to trade at $2,341.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.69% to 157.23, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 168.54.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 105.64.
