Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Technology and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 0.02% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NSE:BHEL), which rose 2.27% or 6.35 points to trade at 286.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Limited (NSE:TEML) added 2.10% or 10.35 points to end at 502.15 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NSE:MAHM) was up 1.55% or 19.75 points to 1296.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Asian Paints Ltd. (NSE:ASPN), which fell 2.67% or 22.65 points to trade at 825.40 at the close. Housing Development Finance Corp. (NSE:HDFC) declined 2.43% or 33.05 points to end at 1326.65 and Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) was down 1.86% or 8.15 points to 430.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which rose 2.02% to 285.40, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.74% to settle at 1298.30 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.44% to close at 1002.00.
The worst performers were Housing Development Finance Corp. (BO:HDFC) which was down 2.46% to 1327.10 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 1.88% to settle at 429.85 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 1.07% to 926.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 741 to 706 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 385 rose and 362 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.14% to 14.8025.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.11% or 1.30 to $1142.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $50.84 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.12 to trade at $57.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 63.475, while EUR/INR rose 0.04% to 69.0390.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.78.
