Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.29%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD), which rose 3.12% or 6.05 points to trade at 200.15 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 2.66% or 86.40 points to end at 3,335.00 and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) was up 2.43% or 15.70 points to 660.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which lost 2.29% or 11.35 points to trade at 485.20 in late trade. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) declined 1.93% or 32.10 points to end at 1,629.65 and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) shed 1.80% or 15.20 points to 830.45.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 3.01% to 200.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 2.73% to settle at 3,339.20 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 2.65% to close at 1,643.25.
The worst performers were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was down 1.98% to 1,629.05 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 1.73% to settle at 5,722.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.71% to 920.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1283 to 773 and 57 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2010 fell and 1632 advanced, while 165 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.62% to 10.84.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 2.05 to $1,948.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.59 to hit $90.61 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.53 to trade at $94.46 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.26% to 83.30, while EUR/INR rose 0.35% to 88.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 104.87.
