Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 2.13%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 2.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS), which rose 8.22% or 413.80 points to trade at 5450.75 at the close. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) added 6.33% or 8.20 points to end at 137.65 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) was up 5.48% or 131.20 points to 2527.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which lost 0.57% or 11.60 points to trade at 2036.20 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 0.54% or 11.25 points to end at 2067.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) shed 0.44% or 2.50 points to 560.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 5.46% to 2527.55, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 4.71% to settle at 1299.45 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 4.10% to close at 405.40.
The worst performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 0.64% to 2065.00 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 0.55% to settle at 560.40 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 0.52% to 2037.05 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1250 to 370 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1809 rose and 670 declined, while 122 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.70% to 31.4550.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.14% or 2.35 to $1733.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.29% or 0.49 to hit $38.45 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.47% or 0.60 to trade at $41.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.25% to 76.091, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 85.6060.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.080.
