Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.16%, while the MDAX index declined 0.11%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which rose 2.18% or 0.335 points to trade at 15.680 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.04% or 0.250 points to end at 12.480 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 1.84% or 0.172 points to 9.538 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which fell 1.66% or 1.380 points to trade at 81.690 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.39% or 0.375 points to end at 26.550 and Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) was down 1.38% or 1.100 points to 78.340.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 2.79% to 44.200, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 1.83% to settle at 37.055 and Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (DE:HNRGn) which gained 1.48% to close at 95.820.
The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 2.91% to 33.705 in late trade, DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which lost 1.39% to settle at 35.040 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 1.39% to 24.060 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 4.99% to 41.485, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 2.50% to settle at 11.285 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 2.40% to close at 50.400.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 1.65% to 22.305 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 1.32% to settle at 39.010 and BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which was down 1.31% to 240.800 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 390 to 293 and 31 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) rose to all time highs; up 2.50% or 0.275 to 11.285.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.89% to 19.85 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.30 to $1175.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.24% or 0.11 to hit $46.17 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $48.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1348, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.7340.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 94.85.
