Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Insurance and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.05%, while the MDAX index added 0.38%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which rose 1.13% or 0.9800 points to trade at 88.0400 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) added 0.96% or 1.70 points to end at 178.30 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 0.52% or 0.038 points to 7.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.17% or 0.330 points to trade at 14.900 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 0.96% or 0.150 points to end at 15.530 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 0.93% or 0.078 points to 8.292.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which rose 2.70% to 41.69, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was up 2.42% to settle at 31.910 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which gained 1.56% to close at 64.300.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 1.21% to 39.07 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 1.13% to settle at 30.150 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was down 1.02% to 58.339 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.98% to 67.450, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 2.47% to settle at 10.180 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 2.14% to close at 18.100.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 1.11% to 12.455 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 1.06% to settle at 22.365 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 0.98% to 3.453 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 414 to 318 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.27% to 17.84 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.15% or 14.45 to $1267.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.97% or 0.50 to hit $52.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.64% or 0.35 to trade at $55.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.0617, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8562.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 100.81.
