Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.41% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.13%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 3.30% or 0.755 points to trade at 23.655 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 2.92% or 0.325 points to end at 11.455 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 2.72% or 0.370 points to 13.995 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which lost 1.52% or 0.55 points to trade at 35.70 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 1.00% or 0.920 points to end at 91.090 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) shed 0.63% or 0.430 points to 67.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 4.25% to 34.955, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was up 2.38% to settle at 12.45 and Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which gained 1.98% to close at 80.258.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 4.16% to 50.48 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 3.71% to settle at 64.367 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 2.46% to 31.380 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 2.42% to 5.674, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 1.86% to settle at 10.960 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 1.54% to close at 4.820.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 2.83% to 46.300 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 2.62% to settle at 15.800 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.90% to 18.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 403 to 343 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.51% to 11.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.93% or 12.13 to $1289.57 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $52.09 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.40 to trade at $57.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1753, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8770.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 93.15.
