Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Software and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.23% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index declined 0.26%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which rose 1.97% or 1.89 points to trade at 97.99 at the close. Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) added 1.17% or 1.35 points to end at 116.90 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 1.07% or 0.385 points to 36.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 1.54% or 0.145 points to trade at 9.300 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.52% or 0.405 points to end at 26.295 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) shed 1.31% or 0.275 points to 20.645.
The top performers on the MDAX were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which rose 3.74% to 68.160, Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which was up 1.55% to settle at 558.55 and Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which gained 0.97% to close at 71.790.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 2.26% to 76.700 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 2.03% to settle at 20.480 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was down 1.87% to 64.010 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 3.02% to 10.200, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was up 2.59% to settle at 62.300 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.11% to close at 88.020.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 4.43% to 11.855 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 2.40% to settle at 58.070 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.12% to 9.620 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 400 to 347 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.95% to 12.91 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.42% or 5.62 to $1327.08 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.53% or 0.74 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.12% or 0.61 to trade at $54.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1895, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.9002.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 92.38.
